Description

A rare Roland rangefinder camera built circa the 1930s for 4.5×6 cm exposures on 120 roll film, complete with the original Kleinbild-Plasmat 2.7/70 mm lens designed by Dr. Paul Rudolph. The camera features a coupled rangefinder/viewfinder, a Compur or Compur-Rapid leaf shutter with speeds from T and B up to 1/250 s or 1/400 s, and a helicoid focusing mechanism down to approximately 1 m. The folding lens tube and compact design reflect early German innovation in medium-format rangefinder cameras.

The Kleinbild-Plasmat lens itself is based on the classic Plasmat optical formula, known for high correction of aberrations and pleasing rendering, here with a maximum aperture of f/2.7 and 70 mm focal length suitable for portrait and general photography in the medium-format 4.5×6 cm frame.
